Renewable Energy

While living in Germany I have completely immersed myself (and become slightly obsessive) in renewable energy, primarily solar power, though wave energy is in my peripheral.

When you think sunny regions, Germany does not automatically pop into mind. Perhaps California, Hawaii, Spain, etc, but Germany? Well you are right; it has roughly the same number of sunny days as rainy Seattle.

However, Germany is the world leader in solar energy equipment. The Germans have managed to harness solar energy from solar panels and produce 55% of the world's photovoltaic (PV) energy, which is the conversion of sunlight to electricity via PV cells.

Freiburg, a city in South Western Germany (the sunbelt of Germany) is known as the ecological capital and has been paving the solar road.

Reading websites, pamphlets, and books goes only so far. Let's go visit the California of Germany - Freiburg.
